If you're looking for no-holds-barred blood and guts brutality this festive Halloween season that revels in gruesome lashings of artfully gratuitous gore, then, Terrifier 2 should provide perfect viewing.
Terrifier 2 Story Synopsis
After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to the timid town of Miles County where he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.
Cautionary warning; Terrifier 2 isn't a film for the instantly squirmish. Instead, it very much appeals to hardcore gorefest enthusiasts. Recent stories of ticket payers reportedly experiencing dizzying bouts of nausea and sickness perhaps illustrate how slaughterously savage Terrifier 2 is from a visual standpoint.
But for fans of the grizzly subgenre, Terrifier 2 delivers a bloodstained smorgasbord of thrillingly gory entertainment. On that deliciously unsavory note, uncensored lashings of blood and severed bodily gizzards are strewn violently across the screen to sickening degrees.
Merciless massacres lurk around every corner. But thankfully, in between the brutal decapitations exists a plot of sorts. Though admittedly lucid and somewhat flimsy in parts, the story does a decent enough job following the first film's core themes while providing enough context for the clown's murderous killing sprees in the present.
What stands out here, however, are the inventive lengths to which Terrifier 2 embellishes each blood-soaked scene. Throughout the film, a degree of artistry, blending convincing practical effects with sometimes absurdly-styled comical executions, makes it feel more tasteful in tone than typical torture-porn affairs.
Thankfully, that doesn't diminish the clown's sadistic malevolence, which remains unfiltered throughout. What it seemingly implies about unregulated content consumption and the societal impacts of ultra-violent television is nothing new. On the downside, its lengthy run time does drag on slightly.
But fans of artful gore and gruesomely elaborate executions will definitely want to check out Terrifier 2.
