Releasing November 16, 2022, The Wonder (2022), directed by Sebastián Lelio, is an upcoming period drama and film adaption of Emma Donoghue's 2016 novel sharing the same name.
Featuring Florence Pugh as a troubled nurse who journeys to a secluded Irish village to inspect a girl's "miraculous fast," The Wonder ( 2022) eludes to an intriguing premise shrouded in mystery.
Judging by the trailer, expect a tense psychological thriller with smearings of atmospheric suspense. Admittedly, movie trailers can be deceiving at times. But based on the film's curiously creepy premise and suspenseful cinematics, as shown below, The Wonder (2022) displays plenty of promise on the eve before release.

In 1862, English nurse Elizabeth “Lib” Wright is invited to a remote Irish village to verify claims that an 11-year-old girl, Anna O’Donnell, has survived without eating for several months. Lib and a medically trained nun are asked to observe Anna for two weeks and independently report on their findings. Lib is put off by the locals’ belief that Anna is a miracle, an idea that Anna herself holds. As Lib seeks a logical explanation behind it all, she also witnesses Anna’s health deteriorating and grows more concerned that no one, not even the girl’s doctor, is attempting to intervene and stop her prolonged fast. Lib realizes that if Anna is to survive, she must take matters into her own hands.
